Husky Lima Refinery

Husky Lima Refinery

From crude oil to refined fuels

Husky Energy, one of Canada’s largest integrated energy companies, operates the Husky Lima (Ohio) Refinery, which has a capacity of processing 160,000 barrels of crude oil daily. With a workforce of 580, Husky Lima produces approximately 2 billion gallons of refined petroleum products annually, including around 25% of the gasoline consumed in the state of Ohio. The highly automated refinery operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year with a scheduled maintenance shutdown every five years.

Husky plans to review options for reconfiguring and expanding the Lima refinery to process heavy crude oil and bitumen, providing additional future investment in the community.

Jet engines

GE Aviation is the world’s leading manufacturer of jet engines for commercial and military aircraft. Headquartered in Cincinnati, the company employs 39,000 at 50 locations worldwide, including Bromont, Québec which supplies turbine blades and fan components for 8 of GE’s jet engines. In June 2012, GE announced a $64.1 million investment in the Bromont plant, including $8.4 million from the Government of Québec. The investment will enable the plant to set up two centers of excellence in research serving all GE Aviation plants worldwide. In January, 2012, Ohio-based Ellison Surface Technologies announced it will open a facility in Bromont, near its primary customer, GE Aviation Canada. Ellison specializes in surface coating solutions for metal components used in aircraft engines. The move comes as a direct result of the many blade-manufacturing contracts obtained by GE’s Bromont plant, that generated sufficient business for Ellison to warrant opening a facility near GE in Québec.

Industrial corrosion solutions

Corrprospecializes in corrosion protection products and engineering services across the United States, Canada, and Western Europe. With a Canadian office located in Calgary, the company manages 22 projects, many of them in the oil sands production regions.

Corrpro Canada does about $60 million worth of business per year in Canada. Approximately $15 to $20 million of that business comes directly from the oil sands. These oil sand-related revenues support numerous jobs at Corpro’s Medina, OH facility and a significant share of the company’s profits.
