Calendar of Events

The High Commission works with partners in Canada and the UK to develop exhibitions, talks and other programming linked to Canada’s international priorities and objectives. Forthcoming events are listed below, along with some of the latest Canadian cultural events planned for the UK. Please note, we do not take responsibility for events that have not been organized by the High Commission. Upcoming Events in the United Kingdom

  • A Tribe Called Red and Humans

    Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, London │ The Canadian electronic DJ crew from Ottawa who remix traditional Pow Wow music with contemporary club sounds are joined by the electronic indie/folk duo from Vancouver.

  • Bush Hall, London │ The classically-trained violinist and member of Arcade Fire and Bel Orchestre plays her first solo UK concert in Shepherd’s Bush.

  • Royal Albert Hall │ Ruth Moody, from the folk roots trio The Wailin’ Jennys, will be touring Ireland and the UK in May, June and July. She will perform six nights at the Royal Albert Hall as a special guest of Mark Knopfler.

  • Harvey Nichols │ Canadian artist Andrew Salgado has been commissioned to provide six large-scale painting for the Sloan Street storefront windows of this iconic British department store in Knightsbridge. They will be on display until June.

  • Harrogate │ Mystery lovers will be delighted to hear that Canadian crime writing sensation Louise Penny has confirmed her attendance at this internationally-renowned festival that welcomes the best of the best of crime fiction.

  • The Surgeon and the Photographer

    The Barbican, London │ The Curve gallery at the Barbican hosts celebrated Canadian contemporary artist Geoffrey Farmer’s first major UK solo exhibit in a public gallery space. Admission is free.

  • Canada Day in Trafalgar Square

    Trafalgar Square, London │ The annual free London party celebrating our national holiday will feature music from The Tragically Hip, Jann Arden, Arkells and The Sheepdogs. The festival will also include yoga with lululemon, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, First Nations Pow-Wow and Round Dance singing group Northern Cree, and of course, the annual street hockey tournament. From 10:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., it’s 12 hours of Canadian food, music and culture in central London.

  • KOKO, London │ Nine number one albums, 14 Juno awards, the classic Canadian rockers who need no introduction have announced a special show at KOKO in London following their Canada Day appearance.
